Job summary

DataBank Holdings Ltd. is seeking an Overnight Technical Support Engineer to join the Support Operations team in the Managed Services department.

You will serve as the primary point of contact during overnight hours, handling system management, monitoring, patching and scheduled maintenance across a multi-data-center environment. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently overnight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in the Information Technology field.
• 2+ years with Windows and/or Linux; ability to troubleshoot network connectivity issues at both an application and Server OS level.
• 2+ years of working knowledge of virtual infrastructure technologies, specifically VMware vSphere and vCenter Administration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all overnight customer incidents submitted via the DataBank portal or by phone.
• Monitor and respond to alarms for DataBank's internal and customer systems; perform proactive monitoring of production systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to virtual platforms and virtual infrastructure including vCenter and vCloud; perform maintenance in VMware.
• Troubleshoot network issues related to routing, firewalls, and load balancers; escalate to Tier 2 teams as needed.
• Fulfill overnight service requests for account creations and modifications including Portal accounts, Windows and Linux accounts, email, VPN, DUO, and FTP.
• Adjust resources for IaaS and PaaS customers to meet requirements.
• Execute approved patch management cycles for Windows and Linux server environments during overnight windows.
• Apply OS-level security patches, hotfixes, and updates using WSUS, SCCM, or equivalent.
• Validate patch deployment success and document outcomes for each cycle.
• Coordinate with day-shift and change management processes; schedule patches appropriately.
• Identify and report patch failures or remediation needs; escalate with documentation to next shift.
• Maintain patching logs and contribute to monthly compliance reports.
• Execute scheduled maintenance tasks during overnight windows, including server reboots and firmware updates.
• Perform decommissioning and provisioning of physical and virtual servers; assist with backup verification and restore testing.
• Perform DNS creation and modifications as part of maintenance requests; communicate updates to customers.
• Complete shift handoff documentation summarizing maintenance and incidents.
• Manage Microsoft Windows-based server systems (AD, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
• Provide technical assistance for Windows and Linux server management; escalate tickets as needed.
