Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• 1 year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) and customer service experience are helpful.
• Clear and precise direction to team members; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image with courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and identify development needs for team members; assist with promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions; make recommendations on discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and controlling shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor and coach team members to meet and exceed service and sales goals; uphold Meijer standards.
• Ensure the team is trained in all aspects of their jobs and completed required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure outstanding service.
• Promote a safe work environment; maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
