Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a dedicated Resident Assistant to monitor residents, ensure safety, and support homeless families. You will screen calls, receive donations, engage volunteers, assist with meals, and refer residents to needed services while maintaining confidential records.

Under supervision of the Assistant Program Manager, you will help prepare the facility and ensure accommodations are ready for new residents, while documenting activity and reporting concerns

Qualifications

• Completion of High School level education or GED.
• - Experience working with individuals in recovery and social services.
• - Minimum one year in recovery services/social services/human services.
• - Experience with people at varying stages of recovery from substance abuse and different levels of mental health.
• - Ability to pass a background check.
• - Valid California Driver's License and clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Oversee facility safety and conduct security checks during shifts.
• Reinforce policies and expectations for clients.
• Screen shelter calls and provide referrals to staff or resources.
• Assist guests visiting the facility and maintain shift logs.
• Complete intake and interview forms and update case data.
• Provide transportation to residents when necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethics codes.
