Job summary

Deborah's Place in Chicago seeks a dedicated program coordinator for Safe Haven operations. You will schedule and train volunteers, maintain logs, coordinate meal delivery, and provide crisis intervention to residents and guests. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and compassionate service.

You will also support the Residential Manager, manage on-site operations during shifts, and help ensure compliance with program policies while collaborating with staff and external partners.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Licensure: Food Handling and Sanitation certification preferred. First Aid/CPR preferred.
• Experience: 2–3 years in social service or residential programs.
• Skills: knowledge of homelessness, mental illness and chemical dependency; strong communication; crisis intervention.
• Valid Illinois driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling and training of Safe Haven volunteers.
• Maintain logs and administrative paperwork.
• Ensure safety, security, cleanliness and integrity of the Safe Haven space.
• Provide crisis intervention and assist with Safe Haven operations.
• Act as Residential Manager in absence.
