Job summary

American University is seeking a Night Desk Assistant to support Housing & Residence Life. This part-time student role focuses on safety, resident assistance, and welcoming guests during 11:00 PM–7:00 AM shifts.

The NDA will work closely with Residential Operations staff and fellow Desk Assistants. Responsibilities include desk administration, timesheet submission via Workday, policy enforcement, and maintaining desk areas.

Qualifications

• Full time enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at American University.
• Cumulative GPA at, or above, 2.50 and term GPA at, or above, 2.50 (GPAs must be maintained).
• Must be in good conduct standing with the university.
• Participate in the Desk Assistant interview process.

Responsibilities

• Administer HR and payroll paperwork via Workday and submit appropriate HR forms.
• Be timely and professional in all communications with AU staff and community members.
• Provide front desk support to residents and assist with safety and guest screening.
• Enforce university policies including Housing License Agreement and applicable regulations.
• Open, close and staff residence hall desks during breaks and events.
• Operate StarRez housing assignment management software for check-in/out.
