Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a part-time Phlebotomist for overnight shifts (9p-5a) with every other weekend. The role entails phlebotomy, specimen registration in LIS, and processing specimens for referral labs, in various hospital areas.

Responsibilities include inventory monitoring, maintaining records, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. Education: high school diploma; phlebotomy training preferred; SunQuest/Epic Dexterity experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred, ASCP certification/eligible preferred.
• SunQuest and Epic Dexterity proficiency required.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written procedures.
• Ability to communicate adequately with all laboratory clients.
• Basic clerical/data entry skills preferred.
• Excellent client relations skills required.

Responsibilities

• Lab Registration: Register and order specimens into LIS and generate labels.
• Specimen Collection: Perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients per policy.
• Specimen Processing/Send-Outs: Prepare specimens for referral labs and ensure correct data.
• Microbiology: May include plant specimens on correct media.
• Monitors inventory levels and maintains equipment in good order.
• Maintains accurate records of processes in manual and computer systems.
