Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a phlebotomy specialist to support a range of laboratory processes. You will perform venipunctures for inpatients and outpatients across hospital areas, and handle accurate collection and processing of specimens in accordance with the hospital’s procedures.

Responsibilities include lab registration, specimen tracking, phlebotomy, processing and send-outs, and maintaining proper records.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Graduate of phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Certification/Licensure: phlebotomy certification preferred, ASCP certification/eligible preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lab Registration: Registers and orders specimens into LIS.
• Specimen Collection: Perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients.
• Specimen Processing/Send-Outs: Process specimens and prepare for referral labs.
• Microbiology: Maintain inventory and accurate records.
