Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist who will perform a wide range of laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology and transfusion to support patient care. The role requires overnight availability with a 7 on/7 off schedule and a strong commitment to quality control and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory/medical technology or related field required.
• MLS program completion and eligibility to sit for the BOC within 6 months of hire.
• ASCP or equivalent MLS certification maintained during employment.
• Shifts may include weekends, holidays, nights and on-call.
• Montana licensure if applicable; foreign transcript evaluation required.

Responsibilities

• Performing Laboratory Tests: Conduct assays on blood, tissue and body fluids to aid diagnosis.
• Analyzing Test Results: Interpret and relay data for patient care decisions.
• Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and calibrations.
• Quality control and Assurance: Implement QC procedures for accuracy.
• Preparing samples and handling specimens per protocol to avoid contamination.
• Recording and Reporting Data: meticulous documentation for providers.
• Maintaining Laboratory Safety: follow safety guidelines and sterile techniques.
• Troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating with engineers as needed.
• Collaborating with healthcare professionals to discuss results and care plans.
