Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement and performance across span of care, providing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities. The role manages leads, ensures operational excellence, and aligns with the company’s culture.

The position emphasizes talent identification, staffing strategy, and accountability for area profitability and customer satisfaction, with a focus on safety and continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching for success.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipeline strategy.
• Engages in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, managing budget lines in the P&L.
• Drives safety and compliance and maintains store conditions.
• Guides Team Leaders and Leads in daily work assignments and training needs.
