Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive store operations, talent development and customer service standards. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, manage budgets and safety, and work to implement process improvements.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 4+ years in retail or customer service, and strong leadership and communication skills to foster an inclusive culture at Meijer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members in span of care to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching and feedback.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support store staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Involvement in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Accountability for area operations and financial results by overseeing execution of corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance throughout the store and ensures adherence to procedures.
• Ensures Leads and Team Leaders provide guidance and assign daily work and training needs.
• May perform other duties as assigned or required.
• May involve budget and forecasting responsibilities.
