Job summary

Barnard College is seeking an Overnight CARES Responder to provide initial intake and response by phone, video conference, or in person, supporting the campus community during late hours.

The role requires handling diverse calls, following department protocols, maintaining confidentiality, and coordinating with other offices; teamwork, crisis responsiveness, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, G‑Suite, and Zoom are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment and handle sensitive information.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and G‑Suite; ability to conduct virtual meetings via Zoom.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial intake and response by phone, video conference, and/or in person.
• Support the call center with non-judgmental communication, referrals, and information.
• Be familiar with CARES department policy, protocol, and emergency response procedures.
• Make decisions and provide instructions under protocol, often in stressful situations.
• Maintain knowledge of campus resources to inform decisions and communicate with the campus community.
• Coordinate with other departments and local partners during emergencies as needed.
• Contribute to ongoing development of call center protocols and documentation.
• Serve as a shift leader and assist in staff training and scheduling.
