Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL-A driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-point locations, operating tractor-trailer combinations to move freight efficiently.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, securing and unhooking trailers, maintaining logs, following dispatch instructions, and complying with hazmat and DOT rules. The role may require overnight travel and occasional city or dock duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic restriction allowed.
• 1 year of experience within the last 3 years, or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• DOT FMC regulations (49 CFR Part 383/391) compliance required.
• Long combination vehicles qualification for specified states where applicable.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook/unhook trailers and lift approximately 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to sit long periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team.
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles (and triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required.
• May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires.
• May be required to perform job duties of a city driver or a dock employee where operationally necessary.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
