Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad spectrum of salaries across the country. The actual salary will depend on factors such as role scope, complexity, location, candidate skills, education, training, credentials, experience, and other employment conditions. Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentives as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program.

What Is the Opportunity?

Under direct supervision, this position involves inspecting, estimating, negotiating, and evaluating 1st and 3rd party auto physical damage claims, including personal and business insurance claims. The claim types will generally involve basic to moderate physical damage coverages such as collision, comprehensive, property damage, rental, towing, fire, theft, flood, lightning, diminished value, and injury-related claims. The resolution and settlement of these claims will be handled by the Auto Claim Professional. This role serves as a technical resource for auto claim staff, providing advice and guidance to optimize claim outcomes. The position is fully remote, with a mix of mobile and home-based work, and does not include team leadership responsibilities.

What Will You Do?
  1. Deliver consistent service quality throughout the claim lifecycle, including prompt contact, clear process explanations, expectation setting, ongoing communication, and follow-through to meet commitments.
  2. Manage work assignments efficiently, including travel to inspect vehicles or equipment when necessary.
  3. Accurately scope claims using technical expertise and company-recognized resources, estimating software, and evaluation tools.
  4. Determine the physical damage claim value and prepare detailed appraisals, including actual cash and replacement values, in compliance with regulatory and corporate guidelines.
  5. Collaborate with the assigned Claim Professional from investigation to resolution, pursuing recovery options like subrogation or SIU as appropriate.
  6. Negotiate claim settlements with customers or repair facilities, reaching agreement on values and payments.
  7. For total loss claims, determine settlement amounts considering coverages and deductibles.
  8. Process payments for claim settlements, including total losses and rental reimbursements.
  9. Assist other lines of business and departments with inspections and catastrophe response when needed.
  10. Track work progress, manage reserves, and monitor savings and referrals.
  11. Review coverage, apply policy conditions, and manage the repair process when appropriate.
  12. Maintain timely claim and expense reserves, and develop action plans to ensure timely repairs.
  13. Communicate damage assessments post-negotiation and obtain authorization for payments.
  14. Maintain necessary insurance licenses and participate in our Catastrophe Response Program, which may include deployment for at least 16 days.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Technical School Degree preferred. State appraiser and claim handling licenses are also preferred.
  • At least two years of auto appraisal experience, preferably with an insurance carrier.
  • Strong technical knowledge of auto repair, terminology, and construction.
  • Familiarity with claims appraisal systems, Windows, Excel, and Word.
  • Participation in Auto Catastrophe response, including extended deployment and travel with minimal notice.
  • Strong mathematical and negotiation skills.
  • Ownership attitude and customer-centric approach.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Ability to stay current on laws and regulations, and communicate compliance effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing education.
What Is a Must Have?
  • High School Diploma or GED with at least one year of auto appraisal experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
