Position Details

  • Reports To: Director of Nutrition and Food Security Programs
  • Location: Los Angeles, Downtown
  • Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
  • Hourly Rate: $20.00
Position Overview

This position services West LA, Metro, and South Los Angeles. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00AM-5:30PM. The position is available immediately.

Responsibilities
  • Implement daily program tasks, including enrolling individuals into food assistance programs (e.g., CalFresh, P-EBT), conducting community workshops, maintaining partnerships, and other duties as assigned.
  • Monitor and case-manage individuals enrolled in food assistance programs.
  • Stay informed about LA City and County health and safety-net programs like CalFresh, SNAP-Ed, Medi-Cal, and their application to community support.
  • Represent NHF at community meetings and build relationships to increase program participation.
  • Coordinate and assist with community events promoting NHF programs and services.
  • Maintain records of program activities and input data into evaluation dashboards.
  • Support team members with workshop materials, program planning, and review of curricula.
  • Adhere to NHF policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 3 years of community outreach and education experience as a certified or trained Community Health Worker or Promotora.
  • Knowledge of community resources, including public benefits, nonprofits, and local businesses.
  • Experience working effectively with diverse communities.
  • Comfort with public speaking and leading group activities.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish or other common LA languages.
  • Reliable transportation required for site visits.
