Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a medical coding professional to review records, assign ICD-10 CM and CPT codes, and abstract data for statistical requests. You will ensure accurate data entry into the hospital system and support cash flow by managing unbilled coding reports.

The role requires familiarity with coding guidelines, medical terminology, and strong data entry skills. Certification and experience in hospital/physician coding are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School/GED.
• Completed coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with health care team.
• Certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, COC, CPC-A.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to determine ICD-10 CM/CPT codes.
• Abstract data elements to satisfy statistical requests and enter into system.
• Manage unbilled coding report to support cash flow.
• Stay updated on ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines and apply changes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
