Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a skilled medical coder to perform thorough medical record review, interpret diagnoses, and assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes while abstracting data for statistical requests and patient care analytics.

You will help improve cash flow by managing unbilled coding reports, stay current with ICD-10/CPT updates, and collaborate with hospital teams to ensure accurate documentation and assignment. On-site position with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• High School/GED and completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• 1 year of Hospital and/or Physician Coding.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology and strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with members of the health care team.
• Any of the following certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, COC, CPC-A.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD-10-CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements to satisfy statistical requests and enters coded information into designated systems.
• Manages unbilled coding report to support cash flow.
• Keeps informed of ICD-10-CM/CPT guideline updates and implements changes.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
