Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks an Outpatient (OP) Coder to review records and accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC codes, and modifiers to ensure proper APC assignment. You will abstract data, apply guidelines, and sequence codes using 3M software, supporting compliant, timely billing.

You will participate in training, assist providers with coding questions, and perform audits to improve quality and payment accuracy. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and EMR systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an associate degree or coding certification.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and EMR workflows.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Review outpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC codes and modifiers.
• Abstract and enter coded data into the coding system used by BILH.
• Apply official coding guidelines and hospital-specific policies.
• Sequence codes to ensure proper APC assignment.
• Participate in training on coding guidelines and updates.
• Respond to questions from providers and other departments.
• Perform periodic reviews of codes and provide feedback to providers.
