Job summary

Wheeling Hospital is seeking a Scheduling and Registration Clerk to manage outpatient visits and procedures across ambulatory clinics. You will collect information, verify guarantor details, and coordinate scheduling and registration to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role involves checking in/out patients, handling payments, and coordinating with physicians’ offices to secure necessary orders. Strong communication and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• State criminal background check and Federal background check as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Checks in and checks out patients per Scheduling/Registration guidelines, prioritizing patient needs.
• Obtain and verify guarantor information; generate referrals if needed.
• Schedule and register patients based on guidelines and medical appropriateness.
• Coordinate follow-up appointments and testing at check-out.
• Collect information to schedule and register appointments.
• Notify staff of scheduling changes due to patient cancellation.
• Respond to patient and staff needs and complaints within a patient-care environment.
• Ensure orders exist and are complete; request outside orders when needed.
• Collect copayments and payments; reconcile cash drawer at end of day.
• Obtain signatures on waivers for managed care at check-in.
• Complete daily tasks in the scheduling area.
• Respond to all patient communications promptly.
