Job summary

Kansas Gastroenterology, LLC is seeking a full-time Outpatient Scheduler to join our established GI practice in Wichita. You will schedule outpatient procedures and follow-up visits, coordinate tests, and ensure a smooth patient experience while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of medical office scheduling experience and EMR proficiency; training is available for the right person.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year experience working in a medical office or facility, scheduling appointments and/or procedures.
• EMR experience.
• Ability to type at least 40 wpm.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule a variety of outpatient procedures and follow up visits as requested by the physician, optimizing patient satisfaction and provider time by scheduling appointments in person and/or on the telephone.
• Follows physician/provider orders for scheduling appropriate ancillary tests and procedures.
• Works directly with the patient and/or family to coordinate scheduled tests and procedures, answer questions, and provide instructions and educational materials.
• Interacts with hospital and facility staff to coordinate tests and procedures.
• Electronically enters information in the patient record.
• Answer calls and tasks.
• Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients.
• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow.
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics.
• Adheres to HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality policies.
• Provides excellent customer service at all times
• Experience preferred, but will train the right person.
