Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Point of Service Scheduler to manage outpatient scheduling for labs, imaging, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures. The role includes intricate protocols, pre-registration, and communicating instructions to patients.

Under minimal supervision, you will work closely with management and care teams to optimize calendar accuracy, communicate conflicts, and ensure timely patient access while supporting department resources and policy adherence.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in medical office environment
• Exposure and working knowledge of physician billing, medical collections, coding, surgery scheduling and/or patient access.
• 2 years of college education preferred

Responsibilities

• Schedules all patients in accordance with established protocols, collects required patient information, and communicates patient instructions.
• May complete patient pre-registration, insurance verification and patient out of pocket estimate.
• Works with physicians, radiologists, techs and nurses to ensure efficient scheduling of resources.
• Communicates scheduling conflicts and rescheduled appointments to the Ordering Physician's Office.
• Identifies discrepancies in orders and notifies nurse/physician for remediation.
• Manages Schedule Order workqueues and maintains service standards for contacting patients.
• Answers incoming calls professionally and manages high call volumes.
• Acts as liaison with other schedulers for coordination of multiple appointments.
• Maintains quality, productivity and attendance standards.
• Participates in scheduling system upgrades and transitions.
• Researches claims on payment denials for pre-certified procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
