Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Scheduler to manage daily patient appointment scheduling across departments under minimal supervision. The role entails coordinating outpatient laboratory, imaging, interventional, and electrophysiology schedules with accurate pre-registration and insurance verification where needed.

Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years in a medical office setting, strong communication skills, and experience with scheduling software or RIS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a medical office environment.
• Exposure to physician billing, medical coding, or patient access is a plus.
• Familiarity with scheduling protocols and multi-department coordination.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all patients per established protocols and communicate prep instructions.
• Pre-register patients and verify insurance and estimated out-of-pocket costs.
• Coordinate with Radiology staff to optimize department resources.
• Notify ordering physicians of scheduling conflicts and no-shows.
• Manage scheduling workqueues and maintain service standards.
• Answer high-volume calls professionally and assist as needed.
