Job summary

Miami Neuroscience Institute Baptist Health South Florida is seeking a Clerical/Administrative professional to welcome patients and families, collect essential information, and schedule or pre-register services.

The role requires gathering demographic and payer data, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, collecting payments, and documenting activities in the hospital system while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient empathy.

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience.
• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing, in a clear, concise, and courteous manner.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Able to learn and use system-wide hospital applications.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families in person or on the telephone in a respectful and empathetic manner.
• Obtains demographic, third party payer, financial/medical information, and identification to schedule or pre-register/register.
• Obtains authorization for hospital services via web or fax, and follows up until obtained.
• Collects payments and provides receipts.
• Documents activities in the Collection Notes file of the computer system.
• Directs families to appropriate locations in the facility.
• Notifies management of any insurance/financial discrepancies for approval.
• Scans documents to the appropriate folder in the PEDS system.
