Job summary

Baptist Health's Neurosurgery clinic seeks a Patient Registration Specialist to manage pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification, and referrals to financial counseling. You will collect at the point of service and ensure accurate patient demographics and benefits data in our systems.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in healthcare or business-related field preferred.
• Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desirable.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.
• Knowledge of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification, and referral to financial counseling.
• Collect at the point of service and ensure accurate patient demographics and benefit data.
• Verify benefits eligibility and coordination of benefits.
• Determine and collect the patient’s financial responsibility at the point of service.
• Understand regulatory requirements (Medicare/Medicaid, HIPAA, EMTALA) and follow them.
