Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited PTA program.
• New York State PTA license or eligibility.
• Current CPR certification.
• Annual safety in-services and HealthStream training.
• Prior outpatient or clinical experience preferred; new graduates may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled PTA treatment under a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Implement individualized treatment plans addressing patient goals.
• Instruct and assist patients with exercises, gait, balance, and ADLs.
• Assist with use of crutches, walkers, canes, and orthotics.
• Apply modalities as directed (hot/cold packs, ultrasound, electrical stimulation).
• Perform therapy activities and manual techniques within PTA scope under supervision.
• Document patient responses and notify PT of progress or changes.
• Communicate with PT to modify treatment as needed.
• Participate in discharge planning and home exercise education.
• Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, safety, and home program.
• Document care and charges in the EMR; comply with NYS requirements.
