Job summary

Cooper Norcross Health is seeking an outpatient Coder to support Revenue Cycle goals by coding outpatient encounters using ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS CPT codes. You will review medical records to determine diagnoses and procedures, ensure accurate sequencing, and perform charge reconciliation for proper reimbursement.

The role requires 0-2 years of outpatient coding experience and AHIMA/AAPC credentials or eligibility.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years experience in outpatient Coding.
• High School or GED Required.
• Vocational / Technical School Preferred.
• Health Information Management / Coding / Billing Preferred.
• Credential in good standing with AHIMA or AAPC is referenced.

Responsibilities

• Coder demonstrates proficiency in coding one outpatient service type to support Revenue Cycle Goals for timely billing.
• Uses ICD-10-CM and PCS, HCPCS (including CPT) and other coding references to ensure accurate coding.
• Examines complete medical records to determine principal & secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Assigns ICD-10 and CPT Codes and sequences diagnoses & procedures accurately.
• Performs charge reconciliation to ensure correct posting and reimbursement.
• Keeps current with coding guidelines and shares updates with colleagues.
