Job summary

American Family Care, Inc. provides general medical care in outpatient settings under licensed supervision. This role works at a franchised AFC location with duties that may vary by site, including vitals, exams, lab work, immunizations, drug screening, and referrals.

Associates degree or equivalent and CMA credentials preferred; experience in clinical settings is helpful for maintaining accurate documentation and coordinating patient care across departments.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent; or six months to one year related experience.
• AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent

AMT registered

AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred
