Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) seeks a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting. The position works with a franchised business location, and duties/benefits may vary between franchises.

You will obtain vitals and medical history, assist with examinations, perform labs, immunizations, and screenings, and maintain documentation. Outpatient, franchise environment with diverse responsibilities across clinics.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• AMT registered and/or AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred.
• Six months to one year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Respond to all lab messages and callback requests
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
