Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in outpatient clinics under supervision. Responsibilities include taking vitals, preparing patients for exams, administering medications, processing labs, and maintaining accurate records.

Franchise locations may vary in duties and benefits; AFC supports employee growth with on-site labs, x-ray capabilities, and a broad benefits package. AMT/AAMA credentials are preferred but not mandatory for all roles.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent; six months to one year related experience and/or training.
• AMT registration and AAMA certification preferred.
• Assist with patient vitals, medical history, and exam preparation.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments as per procedures
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance per instructions
• Respond to lab messages and call-back requests
• Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are documented and administered as approved
• Conduct physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties as assigned
