Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is hiring for a General Medical Assistant to provide clinical support in outpatient settings across franchised locations. You will obtain vitals, assist with exams, document care, and help with specimens and tests.

You will work under licensed providers, handle immunizations, drug screenings, referrals, and maintain accurate records while adapting to franchise-specific duties and schedules. A friendly, flexible small-business environment is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training.
• AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions.
• Respond to lab messages and call back requests.
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure.
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
