Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks an Outpatient Coder to join our growing team. Under supervision, you will review outpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC, and modifiers to ensure accurate APC assignment and compliant billing.

You will collaborate with Coding leadership, participate in ongoing education, and contribute to timely coding and coding accuracy across outpatient services. Minimum qualifications include a coding credential and 2 years of outpatient coding experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPC outpatient coding experience.
• AHIMA or AAPC coding certification (RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC/CCS-P) is required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT Official Guidelines, and HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review outpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC, and modifiers.
• Abstract data into coding systems and ensure accurate APC assignment.
• Sequence codes according to official guidelines and coding clinic advice.
• Participate in education and updates for ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPC coding.
• Conduct prospective audits and provide feedback to providers.
• Educate physicians on coding issues and updates.
