Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an Outpatient (OP) Coder in Boston, MA to review records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC, and modifiers for APC accuracy. You will work with Coding leadership to ensure consistency with Official Guidelines and Coding Clinic guidance.

The role requires at least 2 years of outpatient coding experience, proficiency with EMR systems, and strong written communication. This position is based in Boston, with a focus on compliant, timely coding and billing.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPC outpatient coding experience.
• Proficiency with medical terminology and coding guidelines.
• Experience with EMR and structured data in coding processes.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Review outpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC, and modifiers for APC assignment.
• Abstract coded data into the coding system with provider details.
• Apply ICD-10-CM/CPT guidelines and Coding Clinic guidance.
• Sequence codes correctly to ensure accurate APC assignment.
• Participate in trainings and coding guideline updates.
• Educate providers on coding issues and respond to staff questions.
• Review rejected claims and provide coding feedback.
• Support documentation reviews and revenue cycle activities.
