Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Management or AHIMA/AAPC coding certification is required.
• Professional coding path accepts HS diploma with recognized coding certificate.
• 2+ years in ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC outpatient coding is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of medical records content and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Review complete outpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPC, and modifiers for APC assignment.
• Abstract data into the coding system and document details (physician, dates of surgery, discharge, etc.).
• Apply official coding guidelines and 3M sequencing for accurate coding and billing.
• Provide feedback and participate in ongoing coding education and QA processes.
