Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care seeks an entry-level Registered Nurse for the Outpatient CAP1 track. You will provide and coordinate clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation for an assigned patient group during hemodialysis.

You will educate patients and families, supervise support staff, and collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team to ensure safe, effective dialysis therapy and ongoing quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful CPR/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs all essential functions under supervision with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or other RNs.
• Collects and analyzes patient data during dialysis; documents in the patient record; adjusts treatment plan as indicated.
• Educates patients and families on learning needs for ongoing care.
• Directs and provides, with staff, safe delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients.
• Administers medications as prescribed or per algorithm; documents justification and effectiveness.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Supports staff training and orientation of new staff.
• Ensures correct lab collection, processing and shipping procedures and reschedules missed collections.
• Documents outcomes and updates nursing assessment and plan of care.
• Discusses transplant and treatment modality options with patients.
• Completes CAP requirements to advance.
