Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking an entry-level Registered Nurse for the Outpatient CAP1 track. You will be part of the End Stage Kidney Disease health care team, coordinating assessments, plans, interventions and evaluations for an assigned patient group as directed by supervisors and educators.

The role involves education for patients and families, collaboration with RNs, LVN/LPNs, and technicians, and contributing to quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.
• Entry level for RN with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience.
• Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
• Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data during hemodialysis and documents in the patient medical record, adjusts treatment plan as needed.
• Educates patients and families about learning needs and treatment.
• Directs and provides safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients.
• Administers medications as prescribed or per algorithm.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource for the health care team and participates in staff training.
• Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures.
• Documents nursing assessment and plan of care in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Provides transplant options education to patients.
• Completes CAP requirements to advance.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Education
