Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in Alabama is seeking an entry-level Professional registered nurse for the Outpatient RN CAP 1 program. You will provide and coordinate clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients, with collaboration from RN, LVN/LPN, and Patient Care Technicians.

As part of the End Stage Kidney Disease care team, you’ll participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities. CAP requirements to advance are outlined in the program.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.

Responsibilities

• Performs essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or other RNs.
• Performs ongoing data collection and analysis of patient data during hemodialysis and documents in the medical record.
• Assesses and documents patient/family education needs for initial and ongoing education.
• Directs daily delivery of hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients.
• Administers medications as prescribed or per approved algorithms.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource for the health care team and participates in staff training.
• Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures.
