Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in Alabama seeks an entry-level Outpatient RN CAP 1 to join the End Stage Kidney Disease care team. The role includes assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of patient care, with supervision from the Clinical Educator and other RNs.

The position participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities and may involve delegation to care staff. CAP requirements are required to advance; travel to training sites may be needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.
• Entry level RN with less than 2 years nephrology nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs all essential functions under supervision with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or in collaboration with other RNs.
• Collects and analyzes patient data during dialysis and documents in medical records.
• Educates patients and families about learning needs.
• Delivers safe and effective hemodialysis therapy and coordinates with care staff.
• Administers medications per prescribed protocols and documents effectiveness.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource for the health care team and assists with staff training.
• Ensures proper laboratory collection, processing and shipping.
