Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care seeks an entry-level Registered Nurse for the Outpatient CAP 1 designation. This role is an entry point into the Clinical Advancement Program and focuses on providing and coordinating clinically competent care for an assigned patient group within the ESKD care team.

The RN collaborates with RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, while contributing to teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities in the facility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful CPR BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs all essential functions under supervision and guidance of RN leaders.
• Collects and analyzes patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis and documents in chart.
• Educates patients and families about care plans and dialysis processes.
• Delivers safe and effective hemodialysis therapy with the care team.
• Administers medications per protocol and documents justification and effects.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource and participates in staff training and orientation.
• Ensures proper lab collection, processing, and shipping; reschedules missed collections.
• Updates nursing assessments and care plans with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Discusses transplant options and treatment modality considerations with patients.
