MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is part of the Medical University of South Carolina providing care within a rural network. The Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled tasks to support patient-centered care, assisting in examinations and treatments under physician direction.

The role requires completing an accredited medical assisting program, one year of patient care preferred, AMT/AAMA/NHA/MedCA certification, and BLS. Annual competencies must be maintained.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
• Must be certified through AMT or AAMA or NHA or MedCA as CCMA or CMA or NAHP.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required from AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records data in medical records.
• Prepares examination rooms and assists in procedures under physician direction.
