MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. The Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
• Must be certified through AMT, AAMA, NHA, MedCA as CCMA or CMA or NAHP.
• Current BLS certification required (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients, measure vital signs and input information into medical records.
• Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Maintain annual competencies and follow detailed instructions for procedures.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
