MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.

The Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
• Annual competencies are required to be maintained.
• Must be certified through recognized CMA/CCMA/NHA/NAHP body and BLS certified.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records inputs to the medical record.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Follows detailed instructions and communicates effectively in writing and speech.
