Job summary

The City of Thornton is seeking skilled Utility Maintenance Specialists (I-III) to maintain water and sanitary sewer lines, valves, hydrants and manholes. Positions require readiness for on-call emergencies and the potential to operate a variety of equipment, with CDL eligibility support offered within the first year.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required for all levels.
  • CDL/driver license required or ability to obtain within specified timeframe.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on water and wastewater pipelines.
  • Operate heavy and light equipment for mainline repairs.
  • Conduct CCTV inspection of sewer mains to observe flow and integrity.
  • Performs fire hydrant flushing and valve maintenance.
  • Assist with on-call rotation for after-hour emergencies and snow operations.
  • Maintain records and follow safety procedures.
