Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc is seeking an Outdoor Lighting Intern in Minnesota to gain hands‑on experience in design, construction, and project coordination for residential, commercial, and municipal lighting. You will support design and layout preparation, manage project documentation, and collaborate with internal teams and external contractors in a dynamic utility environment.

Qualifications

• Current student, freshman or higher pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commute in-person to the designated work location per hybrid policy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with AutoCAD or GIS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Update project tracking systems and organize files.
• Support design and layout for lighting projects using internal tools and standards.
• Coordinate with internal teams and contractors to gather project requirements and documentation.
• Prepare reports and summaries for project status, billing, and communications.
• Contribute to process improvements by analyzing workflows and suggesting enhancements.
