Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an Outdoor Lighting Intern to support design, construction, and project coordination for residential, commercial, and municipal lighting projects. You will gain hands-on experience in utility infrastructure, customer service, and project tracking in a collaborative team environment.

The role offers exposure to both technical and business processes, with a May 24, 2027 start date and potential extension based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing Construction Management, Business, or related field
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person per hybrid policy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is preferred
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or GIS tools is a plus
• Basic understanding of project management principles; strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with updating project tracking systems, file cleanup and organization
• Support design and layout preparation for lighting projects using internal tools and standards
• Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to gather project requirements and documentation
• Prepare reports and summaries for project status, billing, and customer communications
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives by analyzing workflows and suggesting enhancements
