Job summary

The State of Colorado, through CDOT, seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist for the Southeast Denver Metro area. You will operate heavy equipment, plow snow, mow vegetation, install signs and guardrails, and respond to weather or emergency conditions.

Expect outdoor work on various sites, rotating on-call duties, and potential overtime. Strong safety orientation and ability to work in teams are essential for keeping roads open and safe.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes.
• At least two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and conditions.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and work overtime including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and operating heavy equipment as part of a patrol.
• Mowing grass, removing debris, and repairing guardrails and signs.
• Setting up traffic controls and maintaining roadway surfaces.
• Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs.
• Following safety guidelines and wearing proper PPE.
