Job summary

Ferguson is hiring a Distribution Center Outbound Department Manager in Fort Payne, AL. The role leads a 2nd shift team (3 PM start) and oversees daily warehouse operations, focusing on performance, safety, and accurate shipment processing.

You will coach staff, optimize space, and drive efficiency across shifts and departments. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in warehouse leadership, experience with WMS/LMS, and a solid grasp of OSHA safety practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of leadership experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or similar operations environment.
• Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, high-volume operation.
• Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Labor Management Systems (LMS).
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support multiple shifts when needed.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Supply chain or distribution experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily warehouse operations within your assigned functional area.
• Build, coach, and develop a highly engaged team focused on performance, accountability, and safety.
• Ensure the accurate and timely movement of products and completion of related documentation.
• Drive operational efficiency by maximizing warehouse space utilization and maintaining an organized work environment.
• Train and mentor associates on procedures, best practices, and performance expectations.
• Partner with DC leadership to coordinate activities across shifts and departments.
• Communicate with stakeholders, drivers, and support teams regarding shipment status and priorities.
• Investigate and resolve PO discrepancies, shipping issues, and documentation concerns.
• Promote a strong safety culture and address potential risks proactively.
• Analyze metrics and use data to drive continuous improvement.
• Conduct performance reviews and support associate development and succession planning.
