Job summary

Ferguson is seeking a Shift Manager for its Upper Marlboro Distribution Center. You will lead a fast-paced operation, manage hourly and salaried staff, and ensure safety, efficiency, and accuracy in daily tasks.

Responsibilities include workload planning, coaching, and developing leaders, with extended hours on 1st shift. The role emphasizes teamwork, operational excellence, and adherence to OSHA/DOT standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 5+ years’ management experience in supply chain distribution.
• WMS and LMS experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient in OSHA and DOT regulations.
• Project management experience desired (LEAN, KAIZEN, Agile).
• Experience implementing employee engagement, mentoring and development initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate workload planning, production, and execution of a fast-paced operation with leadership of hourly associates and salaried leaders.
• Oversee a team on 1st shift 6AM–4:30PM with extended hours as needed.
• Safety and regulatory compliance in a proactive and positive manner.
• Lead all aspects of shift operations including shipping, receiving, replenishments, and trailer loading.
• Establish weekly operations plans to meet customer demand in a timely manner.
• Coach and develop employees and managers to improve performance and career growth.
• Drive daily execution aligned with priorities, staffing, and shift goals.
• Own shift performance and ensure metrics such as throughput, accuracy, and labor efficiency.
