Job summary

United Power in Brighton, CO seeks a Protection and Controls Technician to support OT infrastructure including SCADA, substations, relays, fiber, and networks. You will install, configure, test, and troubleshoot protection devices and communications equipment to ensure reliability.

The role requires extensive field work, NFPA/OSHA compliance, and collaboration with Engineering and IT. A valid Colorado license and ETA fiber certification are required or must be obtained within six months.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED with extensive experience in fiber, networking, security systems, and relay protection.
• Must be ETA Fiber Optics Installer certified or able to complete within 6 months.
• Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, repair, and troubleshoot protective devices and SCADA equipment.
• Configure TCP/IP networks, subnetting, routing, and VLANs; support networking and cybersecurity initiatives.
• Maintain records and settings for relay and SCADA equipment to stay compliant with standards.
• Program relay settings as directed by Engineering.
• Test and calibrate relays in substations and field locations.
