Job summary

The YMCA is seeking an OST Site Lead in Grand Haven, MI to provide daily leadership and oversight of the Out-of-School Time program at the assigned site. You will supervise OST staff, ensure a safe, engaging, high‑quality program, and model YMCA values and child safety.

You will collaborate with families, school personnel, and community partners; develop age-appropriate activities; maintain records; follow licensing rules; and participate in training, certifications, and safety drills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Certifications: Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid required within first 30 days.
• Child abuse prevention training required within first 30 days.
• Must complete all required professional development and licensing training.
• Ability to work effectively with children, families, coworkers, and community partners.
• Must meet Michigan child care licensing qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, support, and provide daily leadership of the OST program and staff.
• Ensure age-appropriate, continuous supervision of children with proper staff-to-child ratios.
• Adhere to Michigan child care licensing rules and YMCA policies.
• Create an inclusive, safe, and respectful environment for children and families.
• Develop and lead engaging activities promoting social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
• Maintain positive relationships with children, families, schools, and staff and communicate professionally.
• Report children's needs or issues to families as appropriate.
• Maintain program records and confidentiality.
• Follow procedures on attendance, releases, ratios, meals, field trips, and safety drills.
• Ensure a clean, safe program environment and equipment maintenance.
• Participate in orientation, training, and professional development.
• Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
