Job summary

Mass General Brigham in Portsmouth, NH is seeking a Clinic/Practice Assistant to support daily orthopedic clinic operations. This non-clinical, patient-facing role focuses on scheduling, registration, records management, and effective communication to create a welcoming experience for every patient.

You will assist with check-in/check-out, referrals, billing, and document handling using Microsoft Office. A high school diploma and up to one year healthcare office experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Up to one year of healthcare office experience required.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of standard office procedures including filing, copying, scanning, printing, and faxing.
• Clear written and verbal communication; professional messaging.
• Strong organization and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist patients while supporting an efficient flow through the practice.
• Schedule patient appointments and maintain records and daily schedules.
• Manage incoming calls, answer routine questions, take messages, and connect callers with resources.
• Support patient check-in and check-out activities and verify registration information.
• Handle messages and documentation related to referrals and prior authorizations.
• Prepare, scan, file, and retrieve documents in patient records, including lab results.
• Process patient billing forms and, when required, accept co-payments.
• Open and distribute mail and faxes and prepare forms and materials as directed.
• Monitor the waiting room and assist with day-to-day operations.
