Job summary

Contra Costa Health is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to support our ortho, plastic, and podiatry providers. The position will be based at the Martinez Health Center and require travel to Pittsburg Health Center and West County Health Center to see patients.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, six months of cast application/removal experience in a medical setting, and the ability to obtain NBCOT or NAOT substitution as noted.

Qualifications

• Six months of full-time experience in the application and removal of casts in a hospital, clinic or medical office setting, working directly in the treatment of orthopedic patients.
• Substitution: NBCOT Orthopaedic Technologist Certification or NAOT-certified training may substitute for the required experience.
• Education: Graduation from high school, GED equivalency or California High School Proficiency Certificate.
• License: Valid California driver license and CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Supporting ortho, plastic and podiatry providers at the assigned clinics
• Removing or applying casts
• Applying compression dressings to patients
• Applying cam boots, braces, night splints, diabetic shoes, ankle/knee braces and post-op shoes
• Applying fiber glass splints
• Applying compression stockings
